The compressor is a very powerful tool capable of extruding useful resources out of common materials.
It can create a coal plate using 4 coal dust, which can then be used to either make the powerful E-Coal armor or to compress 4 coal plates further into a diamond, though this does process takes a fair amount longer.
It can also extrude Dielectrics, used in capacitors, out of sand. It can also squeeze the resin out of an oak log which is really useful if one does not want to wait for their resin collectors to fill.
